Lumora 27 enters BETA stage!

Release

Lumora 27 has reached beta. The beta build was compiled on 24 October, and you can get it from the download section. The download is 5.0 GB and is hosted on MEGA.

This is a beta release. It should work with most systems, but compatibility and stability are not guaranteed. Use it at your own risk, and back up anything you care about first. The Lumora team is not responsible for lost data.

What you get

Lumora is built on Ubuntu, so it gets Ubuntu's security updates. The desktop uses a familiar layout with a top bar and a dock at the bottom. Some of the included apps are Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, and Bazaar is there for installing more apps.

  • To run the installer, type in the terminal "sudo eggs sysinstall calamares". When it asks for a password, type "lumora".
  • What you need

    • A 64-bit dual core processor (quad core, 3 GHz or faster is better)
    • 4 GB of RAM (8 GB or more is better)
    • 20 GB of free disk space (128 GB is better)
    • A USB stick of at least 8 GB

    What we need from you

Install it on a burner computer or VM, use it for a few days, and tell us what works and what doesn't. The more different computers it runs on, the better the final release will be.

The finished release of Lumora 27 is scheduled to release in late November or early December, and it will be supported until 2031.
